History & Influences :

Starting in the basement of bassist James Castoro, Mentu was started as a homegrown group of guys with a similar passion for music and live performance. In December 2008 while experimenting with tracks, founders Tom Caprino and James Castoro noticed a good amount of publicity for what they were putting together. With there first original tracks “Unnamed” and “The Last Time”, James and Tom agreed that a full rock group was the next step. In finding a name, the group deliberated on many but came to Mentu which is the name of the egyptian god of war. In the following weeks, they acquired the talents of Billy Bennett on drums, Shaun Gold on guitar and Armand Lane as lead vocals and front man. Now, with a full-formed group and talent bleeding from the ears, Mentu is ready to take on the world.
